Some songs are so universally loved that they become the perfect canvas for creative reimagining. ABBA's "Thank You For The Music" is one of those songs. Uplifting, melodic, and impossible not to sing along to. Gary S Ash came to us at ChangeLyric with a delightfully specific request. He wanted the song transformed into an anthem for his Studebaker Club, with members gathering in Sweden no less.
The Sweden connection made this project especially fitting. An iconic Swedish band's song, rewritten for American car enthusiasts, to be enjoyed at a gathering in the band's home country. Even Agnetha would have to appreciate the creativity.
What Changed
The transformation celebrates Studebaker's iconic models throughout. "Thank you for the music" becomes "Thank you for the stoodies," the affectionate nickname for Studebaker vehicles. "The songs I'm singing" becomes "the cars I'm driving." The playful jab "all the rest are just surviving" replaces "all the joy they're bringing."
Classic model references weave through every verse. "A song or a dance" becomes "a Lark in your heart," referencing the beloved Studebaker Lark. "The girl with golden hair" transforms into "the girl with a golden hawk," honoring the Studebaker Golden Hawk. Even the line "like a melody can" becomes "like a studebaker can." References to dancing and singing become driving throughout, creating a cohesive automotive narrative that never breaks character.

“Great job! My friends in the Studebaker Club are meeting in Sweden this week, will love this version of the song. I think Agnetha will forgive me.”

Why Car Club Parodies Work
There is something special about hearing a song everyone knows transformed into a story about your passion. When the familiar opening notes play and instead of "Thank you for the music" you hear "Thank you for the stoodies," the room comes alive. The shared language of classic car culture, the inside knowledge of models like the Lark and Golden Hawk, the collective appreciation for a beloved American brand. It all lands because the vehicle is so familiar.
Gary's five star review says it all. His friends in the Studebaker Club are going to love it. That is the power of a parody done right. You take something universal, something that already has emotional weight, and you redirect that energy toward your own story. ABBA gave us a feel-good masterpiece. We just gave it new words.
